Rangers Vs. Capitals
7:00pm, Madison Square Garden
Rangers Record: 25-25-7
Capitals Record: 38-12-6
Tonight’s matchup at the Garden will be the third meeting
between the red hot Caps and the struggling Rangers. The previous meetings
ended with road wins as the Rangers took it to the Caps in DC in October but a
month later the Caps returned the favor at MSG.
This is a big game for both teams as Washington looks to
extend a there 11 game winning streak, something that has not been done post
lockout. While the Rangers, with there new additions look for something to
build on. A win against the hottest team in the league might be a key aspect in
getting the Rangers to a better place in the standings as well as mentally
before the NHL season takes a timeout.
Jokinen and Prust make their home debuts tonight and hope to
shock a little life into the teams play. All though Jokinen has played only one
game with Gaborik, both of them know how important it is to gel and gel fast.
The Rangers defense will need a big game as the Caps have
scored 55 goals over this 11 game win streak especially from Staal who will see
more of number 8 than other d-man.
The goalie matchup will be Lundqvist vs. Theodore; both have
been very impressive over the last month.
