The latest winter storm knocked out power at Blueshirt Bulletin HQ, preventing us from holding our chat. We will re-schedule for this week.

Onto more important matters.

As reported via our Twitter yesterday, the Rangers picked up 29-year-old goaltender Alex Auld off re-entry waivers from the Dallas Stars. Auld, once a highly touted junior prospect, has bounced around in his NHL career from the AHL and now is 7th NHL franchise.

In 21 games this season, Auld is 9 - 6 - 3 with a GAA of 3.00.

From a financial perspective, Auld's cap hit is less than former back-up Steve Valliquette's, which gives the Rangers some greater flexibility for Wednesday's trade deadline.

He is an unrestricted free agent this summer.

With 20 games remaining, the Rangers will start to steer away from the Olympics and back toward the playoff race. Last night, Olli Jokinen and Marian Gaborik battled it out for the Bronze Medal with Finland staging a third period comeback on the heels of Jokinen's two quick goals.

Gaborik, who suffered an injury against Canada in the semi-finals, returned and had a spectacular goal in the first period.

Remaining in the tournament are the dynamic duo of Ranger captains Chris Drury and Ryan Callahan. Both have been important players for Team USA and their penalty killing efforts are a big part of the team's success.

They will re-match Team Canada in the gold medal game this afternoon.

Stay with us on Twitter for updates!
