Welcome Rangers fans to the Blueshirt Bulletin Live Game Blog. Tonight, the Devils are at the Garden for their second meeting of the season.

The Rangers will look to rebound off a bad 7 - 3 game ag ainst the Sharks while the Devils will look to sustain the momentum form their 2 - 0 victory against Carolina.

Lines will be tweaked tonight as Donald Brashear sits in favor of Aaron Voros and Artem Anisimov will center Chris Higgins and Enver Lisin.

Henrik Lundqvist is back in net looking for his seventh win of the season.

Warmups are wrapping up and we'll be back with the live game action shortly.

7:16 - Game underway, a lot of action along the boards early, especially a great hit by Dan Girardi. Avery gets into his first fight of the season with former Ranger Mike Mottau after a big hit on the boards.

7:17 - A long fight results in an Avery knockdown. That intensive offseason training seems to have paid off.

7:20 - Parise scores for the Devils as Dan Girardi is caught flat footed on the blueline. 1 - 0 Devils

7:22 - Rangers take another offensive zone penalty as Ales Kotalik is called for tripping

7:26 - Penalty ends. A good kill by the Rangers. Chris Higgins had an aggressive shift.

7:33 - After a lot of setup time in the offensive zone, Lundqvist bails the Rangers out on a 2-on-1 the other way. The Rangers have been able to establish a lot of setup time, but haven't gotten many quality shots.

7:36 - Marc Staal commits an unforced turnover in the neutral zone that leads to a pretty pass by Dave Clarkson to Nicklas Bergfors for a tip-in to put the Devils up 2-0. 3:22 to go.

7:45 - Period ends with a flurry in front led by Sean Avery. Callahan had a great end to end rush, but the Rangers couldn't capitalize. Shots on Goal: Rangers - 7, Devils - 8

7:57 - Belated congratulations to Mike Richter, Jim Devellano, and Mark Messier on their Lester Patrick Awards. Well deserved honors.

8:00 - Out of town notes: Philadelphia leading Boston 1 - 0, Capitals leading Atlanta 2 - 1 , Tampa Bay leads San Jose 1 - 0. All games in the first period. Period two underway

8:04 - Rangers have lost their physical edge. It's a lot of back and forth so far. Devils take a penalty, Mike Mottau for high sticking.

8:05 - Nearly off the faceoff, Rangers get a power play goal on a Gaborik shot from the point. May have been deflected

8:07 - Del Zotto steps up for Lundqvist as Brian Rolston gets a late shot in.

8: 21 - Change of goal, it's now Gaborik from Kotalik and Prospal. Rangers on the power play. Internet outages here at the Garden, so much for "Optimum" online

8:24 - Power play pretty uneventful except an early scramble. 7:35 to go

8:26 - Breakaway goal by Ales Kotalik on a threaded pass from Dan Girardi

8:30 - In case anyone was wondering, Kotalik's favorite band is U2. Vital, vital information.

8:38 - Period ends 2 - 2 tie. Perhaps the Rangers best second period on the season. Much more energy, and were the aggressors rather than sitting back. The second line of Drury, Avery, and Callahan has been very visible. Kotalik continues to gain confidence. Shots on Goal: Rangers - 20, Devils - 14

8:53 - Third period a minute away. The early part of this period will be critical. Both teams have now dominated one period. Who can  come out early and put the others on their heels?

8:56 - Tortorella changes lines. Lisin up front with Gaborik and Prospal. Dubinsky with Higgins and Callahan. Maybe temporary?

8:57 - Drury now centering Avery and Kotalik.

8:58 - I like these new lines. Anisimov has looked a step behind while Kotalik and Higgins have played better. I would be hesitant on the first line only because if it ain't broke...

9:03 - Gaborik pressures Brodeur behind the net and almost puts it in the empty net. 13 minutes to go

9:05 - Devils take the lead on a bouncing puck tipped at the last second by  Dainus Zubrus. Girardi missed him to the side of the net. 3 - 2 Devils.

9:09 - Henrik flashes the glove on a short breakaway by Zajac. Rangers are teetering on their composure. Shots 25 - 22 in favor of the Rangers.

9:15 - Rozsival misses an open shot wide and the Devils come back 2-on-1. Lundqvist makes the stop, but the Rangers are now taking some chances. 5:53 remaining and the crowd is getting rowdy.
