Rangers Vs. Florida
7:00pm, Madison Square Garden
Rangers Record: 11-10-0
Oilers Record: 9-9-2
While
these two teams have similar records, the Rangers and Panthers are headed in two
very different directions. New York is 4-6-0 in their last 10 games while
Florida has gone 7-2-1; a record that Ranger fans can only vaguely remember.
This
will be the first of two meetings between these teams in the month of November
as the Rangers take a trip south next Wednesday. Last year, the Rangers
struggled against the Panthers losing 3 out of 4.
Florida
will likely start Tomas Vokoun in net who has been an impressive 5-1-1 over his
last seven starts. The Ranger D-Men will have to keep an eye on Stephen Weiss
and Nathan Horton who have combined for 5 goals and 6 assists over Florida’s
last four games.
The
Rangers will need a strong effort to stop Florida’s winning ways, particularly from players not named Marian Gaborik. The one-dimensional
scoring must come to an end, as the reliance on Gaborik and Lundqvist has not
been enough to keep this team afloat.
According to multiple reports, an
interesting change in lines will take place tonight, as Ales Kotalik will join
Gaborik and Vinny Prospal on the top line. This is a very interesting move, as it
should enable Kotalik to see top minutes as well as some good looks at the net.
Could this be the spark the offense needs?
Chris Drury
and Brandon Dubinsky will remain as scratches for tonight’s game while David Booth (concussion)
will be a key loss for the Panthers.
