New York Rangers fans are a little grayer and a little older after a nail biter in Raleigh.
After going ahead 2 - 0 early, the Rangers allowed three straight goals to put every fan on edge. However, a lucky late bounce on a wide Brad Richards shot tied the game late in the third period.
Carolina took the Rangers to task thru the early part of OT. They overwhelmed the Rangers defensive zone play and held the Rangers to scarce scoring chances, despite being outshot nearly 20 shots.
But it was the Captain who sealed the Blueshirts fate to the postseason. On an incredible individual effort, Ryan Callahan skated wide and put a wrist shot high over the opposite shoulder of goaltender Dan Ellis.
Next up is the regular season finale against the New Jersey Devils, but more importantly the 2013 NHL Playoffs.
