There wasn’t any action on the ice
for the New York Ranger prospects but there was off the ice with two items
involving the same Ranger prospect. Defenseman Ryan Graves (2013 4th)
was traded by the Val-d’Or Foreurs to the Quebec Remparts for a player and two
Graves will join fellow Ranger
prospect Anthony Duclair on a Quebec Remparts team that will be hosting the
2015 Memorial Cup. For Graves that means he will get a second trip to the
Memorial Cup after playing there last year with the Foreurs.
It is a good move that benefits
Graves and the Rangers because getting to play in important games in the
post-season helps you down the road as a professional. Graves who is mainly
viewed as a “stay at home” defender will get plenty of chances to work on his
offensive side of the game.
The other news about Graves isn’t as
good as Graves on the advice of the New York Rangers underwent shoulder surgery
and isn’t expected to play until October. Graves will miss all of training camp
with the Remparts, Traverse City and the Ranger training camp.
