In another sign that the Ranger-pocalypse may be subsiding, defensemen Ilkka Heikkinen and Bobby Sanguinetti were returned to Hartford this weekend with Matt Gilroy returning to the big club, as reported on our Twitter.
As the team looks to win it's third straight against the Carolina Hurricanes tonight, there are elements that the Rangers may have turned the corner and be returning to their early season form.
While two wins isn't enough to justify the abysmal December that the club otherwise had, the play in those two wins came from important contributors.
Chris Drury and Ryan Callahan, two players who have been at the ire of Head Coach John Tortorella this season, have regained their form, chipping in offensively while playing with a renewed desire and passion.
And while there wasn't much improvement needed, goaltender Henrik Lundqvist has been sharp and the focal reason the Rangers have gotten back to winning.
Looking more confident between the pipes, Lundqvist recorded 36 saves in the Rangers' 2 - 1 victory at Philadephia and 35 against the Islanders.
