It was 7:07 when they dropped the puck for game 5 of the ECHL Playoff Series between the Greenville Road Warriors and Kalamazoo Wings. At 11:28 after 102:04 of hockey time and 3 overtimes Kyle Jean (2012 UFA) scored his 2nd goal of the game to give the Road Warriors a 4-3 win. If Saturday night was going to be the Greenville Road Warroirs final home game of the year then they gave their fans a night to remember.

Jeff Malcolm (2013 UFA) was given the start in net for the Road Warriors for his first playoff appearance and he was tested early and often as the Wings scored twice in the first period to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission. Malcolm faced 12 shots while his teammates only got 6 shots against the Wing's goalie.

In the second period Malcolm would settle down stopping all 13 shots he faced but while the Road Warriors played better they still had not gotten on the scoreboard.  So into the 3rd period the Road Warriors went to work scoring at 5:46 to get on the board then at 12:43 to tie the game. Michael St. Croix (2011 4th) would earn a secondary assist on the 2nd goal for his 2nd point of the playoffs.

The Wings would score to take a 3-2 lead at 14:49 setting the stage for the Kyle Jean heroics as Jean would score exactly 1:04 later at 15:53 to tie the game with his first career playoff goal and capping a 3 goal third period. Samuel Noreau (2011 5th) back in the lineup after being a health scratch would earn a secondary assist for his first career playoff point.

The teams would play two full overtime periods with scoring chances for both teams and into a third overtime it would go. In that 3rd overtime it was a trio of Ranger prospects who would combine for the game winning goal as Andrew Yogan (2010 4th) started the play then Josh Nicholls (2012 UFA)  made a great play to keep the puck into the offensive zone and firing towards the net where Jean would find the puck and blast it past the Wings goalie.

The win gives the Road Warriors a 3-2 lead in the series as the series shifts to Kalamazoo for games 6 and if needed game 7.  Kyle Jean's 2 goals on 6 shots and a +2 earned him the game's first star.

Jeff Malcolm in earning his first playoff win stopped 53 out of 56 shots to earn the game's 3rd star. The other Ranger prospects with the exception of backup goalie Jason Missiaen all contributed to the win.

D Samuel Noreau was a +3 on 4 shots with a secondary assist.

F Michael St. Croix was a +2 on 8 shots with a secondary assist and 4 PIMs

F Andrew Yogan was +1 on 8 shots with a secondary assist.

F Josh Nicholls was +1 on 4 shots with a secondary assist.

In the QMJHL, Ryan Graves (2013 4th) and his Val-d'Or Foreurs also found themselves in overtime in game 5 of their QMJHL semifinals against the Halifax Mooseheads. Unlike the Road Warriors there wasn't a happy ending as the Mooseheads would earn a 4-3 win with a goal in the first overtime period.

Graves was scoreless on 1 shot and a -1 with 2 hits for the Foreurs who's offense was choked out as the game went on by the Mooseheads who only allowed the Foreurs a total of 12 shots from the 2nd period on. The series heads back to Val-d'Or for an elimination game 6 for the Foreurs.
