The last remaining Ranger prospect playing in the CHL playofs Ryan Graves (2103 4th) and his Val-d'Or Foreurs saw his season extended for at least 24 more hours. The Foreurs jumped out to a 4-0 lead then held on for dear life as they defeated the Halifax Mooseheads 7-5 in game 6 of their QMJHL semifinal series.
It wasn't pretty but it got the job done as the Foreurs who saw their 2-0 series lead disappear with 3 straight losses to the Mooseheads jumped all over them scoring 4 goals in the first 11:27 of the first period. After the Mooseheads got on the scoreboard, the Foreurs scored the only goal in the 2nd period to make it 5-1 and then a power play goal in the first 35 seconds of the 3rd period for a 6-1 lead.
The Mooseheads would make it 6-1 on a shorthanded goal 22 seconds later at the 57 second mark and then 6-3 on a power play goal at 8:31. The Foreurs scored to make it 7-3 which seemingly put the game out of reach as the Mooseheads added 2 goals for the final score. A wild finish to a wild game which gives way to a bus ride of close to 1100 miles for a game in Halifax on Tuesday evening.
Ryan Graves was scoreless with no shots but was a +2 with 1 hit for the evening.
