The Ranger prospect side of the franchise had a winning
Saturday evening as the Greenville Road Warriors and Ryan Graves’s Val-d’or
Foreurs both came away with big wins.
First the Greenville Road Warriors who have adopted the
hashtag #bleedblue for their playoff season took Game 1 of their Eastern
Conference Semi-Finals match up with the Wheeling Nailers thanks to a 7-3 win.
It was a huge win on the road for the Road Warriors who were eliminated from
the playoffs last year by the Nailers.
The Road Warriors got on the board first on an Andrew Rowe goal
at 6:09 with a secondary assist going to Michael St. Croix (2011 4th).
After a Wheeling goal that tied the game Greenville would convert on a late
power play when Andrew Yogan (2010 4th) converted on with a blast
over the shoulder of Nailers’ goaltender Mike Condon. Yogan was set up by
fellow Ranger prospect Michael St Croix who recorded his second assist of the
game. This put the Road Warriors up 2-1 at the end of the first.
In the second Yogan would earn his 2nd point of
the game when he set up Justin Vaive for a goal at the 3:07 mark. Josh Nicholls
(2012 UFA) would earn a secondary assist on this goal as Greenville went up
3-1. Kyle Jean (2012 UFA) would make it 4-1 when he scored a power play with at13:57
of the second period. The Road Warriors would score once more to make it a 5-1
lead as they headed into the 2nd intermission.
In the 3rd period Samuel Noreau (2011 5th)
would add the primary assist on the Road Warriors 6th goal of the
game. The Road Warriors would add 1 more goal while Wheeling would score 2
meaningless goals to reach the final score of 7-3.
Ranger prospect recap
Jason Missiaen (2012 UFA) would get the win stopping 32 of
35 shots for his 4th win in 6 playoff starts. Missiaen has a goals
against of 2.00 and a save percentage of 0.940.
Michael St. Croix had 2 assists on 2 shots and was a +1. St.
Croix is 1-4-5 so far in the playoffs.
Kyle Jean had a goal on 2 shots and was even. Jean has 3
goals no assists in 7 playoff games.
Josh Nicholls had 1 assist on 1 shot and was a +1. Nicholls
is 0-3-3 in 7 games and a +4.
Samuel Noreau had 1 assist on 1 shot and was “even”. Noreau
is 0-2-2 in 5 playoff games and a +3.
Andrew Yogan was 1-1-2 on 3 shots and was a +1. Yogan is
2-3-5 in 6 playoff games and a +1.
In Baie-Comeau, Ryan Graves (2013 4th) and his
Val-d’Or Foreurs were looking to even their QMJHL final series at 1-1 in game 2
and call it mission accomplished. Val-d’Or scored at 7:24 of the first overtime
to give the Foreurs a 4-3 win over the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.
Graves was scoreless on 2 shots and registered 3 solid hits
for the game as the Foreurs have stolen home ice away from the Drakkar, The
series now shifts to Val-d’Or for games 3 and 4 which will be on Tuesday and Wednesday
