A mixed evening for the Baby Rangers as they went 1-1 on the evening which brings both series to a 2-1 lead in favor of the Baby Rangers. The more exciting game was the one where the Ranger prospects lost as the Greenville Road Warriors returned home to face the Wheeling Nailers in game 3 of their playoff series.

The Road Warriors having lived up to their team name brought a 2-0 series lead home from Wheeling for game 3 but this was not their evening as Wheeling would jump out to a 1-0 lead early in the first period and then made it 2-0 with a power play goal early in the second period.

The Road Warriors would start a comeback when Andrew Yogan (2010 4th) would score his 4th goal of the playoffs off a feed from Josh Nicholls (2013 UFA) at 15:13 of the 2nd period.

The 2-1 score would hold all the way until the final minute of regulation when Michael St. Croix (2011 4th) would score his 2nd goal of the playoffs with just 13 seconds remaining to tie the game and force overtime. Josh Nicholls would pick up a secondary assist on the goal for his 2nd point of the evening.

But overtime wasn’t kind to the Road Warriors as the Nailers would score at 8:18 of the first overtime to earn a 3-2 win. Despite the loss the Road Warriors still hold a 2-1 lead in the series with the next 2 games on their ice.

Jason Missiaen (2011 UFA) was named the game’s 3rd star despite the loss as he stopped 40 out of 43 shots that he faced.  Missiaen is now 5-2-1 with a 2.17 goals against and a 0.938 save percentage in 8 games.

Andrew Yogan improves to 4-4-8 on his goal and was a +1 on 7 shots.

Michael St. Croix is now 2-5-7 thanks to his goal and was a +1 on his 4 shots.

Josh Nichol is 1-5-6 thanks to his friends is 1-5-6 thanks to his 2 assists for the evening. Nicholls was also a + 1 on 3.

Samuel Noreau (2011 5th) was scoreless on 4 shots and an “even” for the game.

Jeff Malcolm (2013 UFA) was the backup goalie and DNP.

Games 4 and 5 will be played Thursday and Friday in Greenville.

One little tidbit from this game which is that the Wheeling Nailers are the ECHL farm team for both the Montreal Canadians and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Ryan Graves (2013 4th) and his Val-d’Or Foreurs returned home for game 3 of the QMJHL finals against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar with the series tied 1-1.  Game 3 started with a scoreless first period that was rather tightly played.

In the 2nd period, the Foreurs would open the scoring with an early goal at 4:49 and the Foreurs 1-0 lead almost held but the Drakkar in a matter of a 43 seconds would  they would ties the game and go ahead.

In the 3rd the Foreurs would score 3 goals on just 5 shots allowed to not only tie the game but would take the lead for good as they would go on to win 5-3 to grab a 2-1 lead in the series.

Graves was scoreless on a +2 with a double minor (roughing, interference) and 1 hit but the Foreurs lead the series which is what really matters.

Game 4 will be Wed. evening in Val-d’Or
