Greenville, SC: The Road Warriors were defeated by the
Wheeling Nailers 3-2 Thursday night, unable to make a comeback after Scott
Arnold scored early in the third period.
Tyler Fernandez gave Wheeling the lead 6:48 when he tipped a
shot past goaltender Jeff Malcolm. Chaz Johnston and Paul Cianfrini were
awarded the assists on the forward’s first professional goal of the playoffs.
Justin Vaive tied the game on a 3-on-2 with Andrew Rowe and Michael St. Croix.
With 1:19 left in the period, Wheeling regained the lead when Mike Ratchuk
scored off the faceoff. The period ended with the Road Warriors trailing 2-1.
Wheeling increased their lead to 3-1 5:23 into the second
period when Sahir Gill scored an unassisted shorthanded goal on Malcolm.
Greenville outshot Wheeling 15-11 during the period, but goaltender Mike Condon
held off all their chances. The period ended with the Road Warriors down 3-1.
Arnold cut the Nailers lead to 3-2 just 5:40 into the third
period when snuck a one-timer past Condon with Andrew Yogan and Mike Marcou
tallying the assists. The Road Warriors pulled Malcolm had a 6-on-3 power play
late in the third period, but were unable to capitalize and make another
comeback. Condon finished the game with 46 saves. Malcolm took the loss with 33

they host Wheeling for Game 5 of the 2014 Kelly Cup Playoffs at 7:00 p.m. The

Jason Missiaen (2011 UFA) was the backup goalie and DNP
Samuel Noreau (2011 5th) was scoreless on 1 shot
Andrew Yogan (2010 4th) had a primary assist for
his 5th assist and 9th overall point which is good for 2nd in team scoring. Yogan was also a -1 on 6 shots
Michael St, Croix (2011 4th) had a secondary
assist for his 6th assist and 8th point which is good for
3rd in team scoring. St. Croix was “even” on 5 shots
Josh Nicholls (2012 UFA) was scoreless on 2 shots and a -2.
